Using nature’s herbs as a starting point Melanie Neves selected rose bronze for this wrap around metal clay ring. Whether it is being used as a fertility aid, or meant to increase wisdom, sage is an herb with lore that precedes it.

Please keep in mind that tiny lines and flaws are characteristic of metal clay and add to its artisan feel.

Melanie Neves | Toronto
Born and raised in Toronto, Melanie’s parents always put a huge emphasis on education. She graduated from university with both a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education, but unfortunately teaching jobs were few and far between. She took a job unrelated to her field and quickly worked her way up to manager, only to realize that she felt very unfulfilled.
Having always been a creative person she thought it would be a good idea to get her creative juices flowing. Her excitement peaked upon discovering metal clay. She tried to balance working over 40 hours per week at a job she was beginning to hate with learning about metal clay, and trying to become inspired and create unique pieces of jewellery during her downtime. Exhausted from work and with the state of her happiness, her creativity was diminishing. She decided life is too short.
Taking a leap of faith she quit her day job, determined to turn her passion into a successful business. And just like that, Kĕme Jewellery was born. "Kĕme" is a slight twist on the ancient Egyptian word "khēmia", meaning transmutation of earth. She is still continuously amazed by the alchemy that takes place working with metal clay.
